Security personnel praised for vehicle recovery

EC Security Reaction Manager, Norman Mphilo, was hailed as a superstar after he managed to recover the vehicle of a Weltevreden Park resident minutes after it was stolen.

The dedicated patroller was doing his normal proactive patrols in the area when he noted two suspicious-looking silver vehicles, a Toyota Conquest and a Honda SUV with a total of three male occupants.

Mphilo offered his assistance to the men who allegedly pretended that their vehicle had broken down. “Because we noticed damage to the dashboard we requested verification from the police, and while we were waiting, two left in the silver Honda SUV, saying they were going to buy a rope to tow the vehicle. One man stayed behind in the Conquest.

“Police verified that the vehicle had not been reported stolen. While we were waiting for the details of the owner of the Conquest, the third suspect got away on foot, pretending to meet his friends around the corner to give them the card to pay for the rope,” Mphilo explained.

“As soon as we received the owner’s details we contacted her. She said her vehicle had been stolen at a school on Cockspur Road. The vehicle didn’t have a tracker and the owner was very happy and grateful that it had been recovered.”

The vehicle owner of the, an aftercare teacher at the school, told Northsider that she was shocked to learn that her vehicle had been stolen but was pleased to get it back.

“I’m grateful to EC Security. Norman is an absolute superstar,” she said.
