Two injured in collision in Ruimsig

A collision involving a light motor vehicle and a truck on Hendrik Potgieter Road in Ruimsig on 14 February has left one person with serious injuries.

The accident happened after 3pm, with reports indicating that the collision resulted in a diesel spill and nightmare traffic leading to Krugersdorp.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said paramedics arrived on the scene and found both the vehicles on the left-hand side of the road. Two people were found seated inside the light motor vehicle. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that one man, believed to be in his 50s, had sustained numerous injuries which left him in a serious condition. The man’s son was assessed and found to have sustained only moderate injuries,” he said.

He added that the patients were treated for their injuries, and the seriously injured man provided with advanced life support interventions before he and his son were transported to Life Flora Hospital for further treatment.

Meiring also mentioned that the driver of the truck escaped injury. Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
