Celebrate being single on #SingleAwarenessDay

15 February – the day after Valentine’s Day – has been designated as Single Awareness Day.

Believed to have been started by a Mississippi State University Student, Dustin Barnes, this day declares to the world that there is nothing wrong with being single.

If you think about it, being unattached has quite a few benefits. Singles can come and go as they please and do not have to factor in a partner’s needs, wants or schedule. If you receive the chance to pursue that career you have always wanted to follow, you do not need to consult a spouse before accepting the offer.

It is also easier for a single person to develop and maintain healthy habits. They do not have to compete with anyone trying to sabotage their efforts to exercise or eat healthily. Singles also tend to be more self-reliant.
