The South African Riding for the Disabled (Sarda) Gauteng hosted a successful Valentine’s Day coffee morning at the Earth Centre on 14 February.

Adoring guests, who enjoyed the day of love cuddling the ponies and mingling with other attendees, were treated to a hive of activities.

The Earth Centre, situated in Ruimsig, facilitated the activities which included a pony-kissing booth, donkey cuddle and patting exercise, and lessons for children from two different special needs schools.

Apart from the activities, the event also included a raffle and a much-appreciated handover to the Earth Centre by Castano, an equestrian equipment store based at Ruimsig Shopping Centre, which donated five horseback pads to the value of R2 500. The handover was made by Adele Coetzee from the store.

The occasion also included a presentation from one of the sponsors, Annelize Westcott and Ursula Fourie from Avon, who encouraged the guests to take advantage of the quick way of earning a few bucks through selling Avon products. “We are here to support the day and also to create brand awareness – and to share the fantastic earnings opportunities of being your own boss and earning your salary through Avon,” said Annelize.

The event’s main sponsor, Hirsch’s Strubens Valley, sponsored the coffee. “We sponsored the morning with coffee. This is the second charity event we’ve been involved with at Sarda. As a company we do a lot to uplift the children of the community,” said Dorette Nel, Hirsch’s Public Relations Officer, who hinted that the company could possibly become a bigger sponsor in the future.
