Dagga found in raid on troublesome intersection

An amount of dagga was found during a raid at a busy intersection in Strubens Valley.

 

The problematic intersection of Fredenharry and Cascades Roads in Strubensvalley was recently raided by local law enforcement agencies following complaints of lawlessness.

BCI Security, in conjunction with the West Rand K9 police unit, paid the area a visit with sniffer dogs to search the surroundings in a bid to eradicate a few aspects of crime that were reported by local residents.

According to a BCI Facebook post, they had received numerous complaints of hawkers, job-seekers and loiterers around the traffic circle, accusing them of public drinking, gambling, drug-dealing, urinating in public and various other concerning behaviours.

A search by the K9 unit led to the discovery of a quantity of dagga hidden in the bushes next to a nursery school, close to where a vendor was found.

The security company reported that during the operation they witnessed and filmed public drinking by a group of men sitting next to the library.

The company said it is now on a mission to rid the area of these ‘unwanted persons’ with the help of the police, Johannesburg Metro Police, the SA Immigration Service, Honeydew CPF, LIFCO and various community members.
