Gary Jordaan from BCI Security shared details about what transpired during the incidents. “Information from one of the victims [eye-witness turned victim] of the attempted hijacking said that there were six suspects under the bridge when they witnessed an attempt on a motorist in a Red Audi A4, and while they were watching, a suspect approached their vehicle and attempted to open their passenger side door.

The motorist sped off before anything further could happen.”

Jordaan added that the Florida Police, BCI Security and JHB West Responders arrived swiftly on the scene after the incident was reported, but unfortunately no suspects were found.

“Please ensure when you are driving at night that all your vehicle’s doors are locked and please resist the temptation to use your cellphone whilst waiting at traffic lights,” Jordaan warned motorists, adding that a cellphone distraction is all the criminals need to catch you by surprise and carry out the hijacking or smash and grab.
