National Frozen Yogurt Day

Enjoy a healthier alternative to ice cream on #NatonalFrozenYogurtDay

6 February is National Frozen Yogurt Day, which is celebrated annually.

Frozen yogurt sales increases annually as the demand grows for healthier alternatives to ice cream, and with the explosion of flavours and topping choices, the popularity of frozen yogurt keeps on growing.

Frozen yoghurt was first developed in 1970 in the United States and produced by HP Hood as a soft serve treat called Frogurt. Humphreys and Dannon soon followed with their own versions of the frozen treat.

The popularity of frozen yogurt grew in the 1980s, mostly because of its health-food status. Ice cream manufacturers soon caught on and started offering low fat options.

Frozen yogurt is starting to make a comeback again, as more and more people have begun to prefer the tart taste of yogurt.

To celebrate today, visit your favourite frozen yogurt store and enjoy a delicious frozen snack. If you feel adventurous, try making your own frozen yogurt with recipes found on the internet. Some flavours you can try are vanilla, chocolate, cherry cheesecake, and strawberry, although there are many more.
