‘Stress is a real problem in SA’

Claire Buck of Karmically Fused held an Office Chair and Breathing Workshop that taught participants how to relieve tension and pain within the body without leaving their chairs.

According to a study conducted by Bloomberg, South Africa is the second-most stressed country in the world.

The results of the study, released in May 2013, place South Africa behind only Nigeria by a minute margin of 0,1 on their index.

Their total score is based on several factors: annual homicide rate, GDP per capita, income inequality, corruption score, unemployment rate, urban air pollution and life expectancy.

Given this alarming statistic, Claire feels that remaining calm is an extremely important part of the workplace.

“It is a really big problem in South Africa – we tend to be overly stressed in the workplace,” she said.

“As a wellness company, we believe in giving your body what it needs to achieve the results you want.”

Claire has been operating under Karmically Fused since it was founded in 2009. The organisation hosts various events in corporate spaces such as wellness days, yoga sessions and Pilates classes.

The workshop which she held at Hirsch’s in Strubens Valley focused on releasing tension and pain within the body, hip openers to release lower back pain, shoulder release to release upper back pain, twists to bring flexibility to the spine and back bends to counteract the position held by many desk-users.

Claire is available to contact if you are interested in a wellness day or whatever you prefer for your office on 071 331 8128 or via e-mail at info@karmicallyfused.co.za.
