The night of the stars

Long nights of studying and Long days of teaching finally paid off.

 

Top achieving schools and learners recently gathered to receive their awards when the Gauteng Department of Education held its award evening at Hoërskool Roodepoort.

Stefan Nel from Hoërskool Florida was the man of the night, walking away with most of the awards. He was awarded as the Dux learner and Top achieving learner. He achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in Afrikaans, English, Information Technology and Mathematics. He was very happy and his parents are very proud of him. He is an inspiration to other learners.

In the Top 34 Learner Achievement Awards category, the learners from Roodepoort who achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in various subjects are:

– Marikus Leibbrandt from Hoërskool Florida – Civil Technology

– Zander Henery from Hoërskool Florida – Dramatic Arts

– Lourens Wilhelm Buitendacht from Hoërskool Florida – Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD)

– Daniel Ncube from Allen Glen High School – Electrical Technology

– Jean-Dré Viljoen from Hoërskool Florida – English (First Alternative Language)

– Lindokuhle Angela Khumalo from Princess High School – History

– Jessica Ann Labuschagne from Hoërskool Florida – Hospitality Studies

– Leigh-Ann Rule from Allen Glen High School – Maths Literacy

– Anja Beatrice Schoeman from Hoërskool Florida – Music

– Danelle Breedt from Hoërskool Florida – Visual Arts

– Nokuthula Mthembu from Tulip Secondary School – Zulu (First Alternative Language)

– Lerato Mosina from Florida Park High School – Setswana (First Alternative Language)

The top achieving Town School award went to Hoërskool Florida, while the top achieving Independent School’s award was shared between Tulip Secondary School, Grace Christian School and Bridgeway Christian School. The top achieving school in the category for Learners with Special Educative Needs (LSEN) was Lantern School.

Thilivhali Matsila hands over an award to Lerato Mosina from Florida Park High School.
