Bikers unite in the spirit of Ubuntu

The event was held at 23 different locations, not only in South Africa, but across the entire African continent

Unity of the people was the order of the day on Sunday, 28 January when over 1 000 bikers arrived at Honda West Rand to take part in the third annual Ubuntu National Breakfast Run.

The Ubuntu National Breakfast Run is exactly what it sounds like – a bike run that everybody can attend regardless of race, culture or religion, and all in the spirit of Ubuntu.

And rest assured, unity in diversity is what was served, with over 1 000 friends seeing each other again for the first times in ages.

The bikers were not alone however, and had the support and guidance of 14 motorbikes and two vehicles from the Gauteng Traffic Police Special Patrol Unit who rode out ahead of the bikers as they left the centre where Honda West Rand is located.

The traffic police ensured safe passage for the bikers by blocking off an intersection so that the bikes could be on their way.

The destination for this year’s Ubuntu Run was the BKS Shisa Nyama, a popular pub in Vosloorus on the East Rand, and only a short 50km ride away.
