Three suspects arrested in connection with slain journalist’s murder
The three suspects will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates' Court today.
Friends, family and colleagues of world-renowned journalist, Godknows Nare, who was shot dead by members of the Metro Police on 17 April 2017 in Florida, are relieved after three suspects were arrested yesterday (25 January).

The City of Johannesburg issued a statement saying, “Three Metro Police officers were placed under arrest by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) after they were called in to the Public Safety Head Quarters in Martindale. The three officers are suspected to be involved in the alleged murder of journalist Godknows Nare.
“The officers were involved in a shooting incident which occurred after they responded to a tip-off involving a hijacked vehicle.
The Metro Police has conducted an internal investigation into the matter and the outcome has been provided to the authorities.

“We take note of the statement made by IPID about the cooperated arrest and urge investigating authorities to afford the suspects a fair legal process, which includes a fair trial.
“The Department of Public Safety will comply with the legal process and await the outcome of the court trial”.
