Roodekrans Park gets cleaned-up

"It starts by taking part in these initiatives in order to create a safer and cleaner environment for all."

“We need to be the change that we want to see in society” said councillor Suzanne Clarke.

During the first installment of the new year’s A Re Sebetseng campaign that took place recently, community members fro Ward 83 gathered to clean up the Roodekrans park.

A Re Sebetseng is a Mayoral legacy programme in which Pikitup acts as the implementing agent for the ward-based campaign.

Councillor Clarke said, ” Pikitup supplied the 15 residents who came out to cleanwith relevant cleaning material. I was very impressed with how much rubbish was collected in just a matter of 2 hours by 15 people. If more people support this initiative we can get more done. Let us remember that we need to be the change that we want to see in society. It starts by taking part in these initiatives in order to create a safer and cleaner environment for all.”

Pikitup is currently changing its strategic focus to reduce the amount of waste generated in the city. Using a community-driven approach, they are developing innovative solutions, to achieve this aim.
