In photos: Jozua Naudé Primary School welcomes Grade 1s

A lot of big eyes and smiles, but no tears on first school day

Public schools opened their doors for the start of the new school year on 17 January, marking the start of thousands of Grade 1s’ school careers.

The Record visited Jozua Naudé Primary school, and was directed to the school hall, where the newest members of the school were gathered. They were all dressed up in their brand new school uniforms, eagerly waiting to meet their new teachers.

As they were called out to their classes, they were all big eyes and smiles, not a tear in sight, and they excitedly followed their new teacher to class, ready to start their school career.
