Rescued pitbulls still have not been claimed

The dogs were rescued on 6 January at the property after a neighbour alerted the authorities about the condition of the dogs.

The Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA reported back on the condition of the abandoned pit bulls that were confiscated at a property in Strubens Valley two weeks ago.

Mandy Cattanach, manager at the animal facility told Northsider that they haven’t heard from the dogs’ owners; and their attempts to get in touch with the homeowner also failed.

The dogs were confiscated on 6 January after a neighbour had alerted the authorities about the condition of the dogs. “The client was worried about the welfare of a dog at a property in Strubens Valley. Our Tactical Response Team members went to the property to investigate. They looked through a hole in the gate and were shocked to see an emaciated female pit bull.

The SPCA was contacted immediately, as the dog was in distress and starving,” this according to a post by BCI Security on Facebook.

SPCA senior inspector Mike Allen, who was involved in the rescue operation, revisited the property where he came across Lindiwe Rametsi, who explained that she had to flee her home following alleged domestic violence, which the Northsider had confirmed by the police.

Cattanach said the dogs are still being cared for at their facility and that the condition of the female pit bull is improving.
