Bee attack lands couple in hospital

ER24 paramedics were also stung while treating the couple

A Witpoortjie couple had to be transported to hospital after being stung multiple times when a swarm of bees attacked them.

According to Annine Siddall, ER24 spokesperson, a man, believed to be in his late 50s, was mowing the lawn when he was stung. “His wife noticed that he was in trouble, and ran out to help him. While she was assisting him, she was also stung several times.

Paramedics had to act very quickly to stabilise the couple. They were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for further care,” she said.

The paramedics who were assisting on scene were also stung while treating the couple, but they did not require any treatment.
