Ensuring justice is served

Muldersdrift Police Station are enjoying a slight drop in crime in the area after festive season convictions.

The Muldersdrift policing area has seen a slight drop in lawless activities following the arrests and successful convictions of four infamous criminals in December.

On 20 December the foursome – Donald Nkuna, Ben Lolwane, Nokuthula Sibanda and Michael Heunning – were found guilty and sentenced according to their individual convictions, which included assault, malicious damage to property and theft.

According to a report by Muldersdrift Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Masedi Masedi, Nkuna was convicted of theft and sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years. Lolwane was convicted of assault and sentenced to 90 days or R2 000, wholly suspended for five years. Sibanda was convicted of theft and sentenced to 30 days’ imprisonment or R500, wholly suspended for five years. Heunning was convicted of malicious damage to property and sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment or R6 000, wholly suspended for five years.

“This shows that apart from conducting operations, tracing and arresting suspects, the police are making sure that justice is served to our people,” said Masedi.

He urged the community to report any crime committed in the area or elsewhere.
