Ward 71 hosts Regional festival

Wards came together in Davidsonville for Regional festival

 

Ward 71 recently hosted the Region C festival, to help get residents in the right frame of mind for the new year.The festival saw dancers and bands from different wards in the region gathering at the Witpoortjie Recreation Centre, all dressed up in costumes. As soon as the parade truck arrived, the whole group took to the streets, entertaining residents with their music and dance moves.

“The parade moved along South Road, pausing on Prosperity Road to pose with residents for photographs before going down Nick Toomey Road, dancing all the way. As soon as the parade entered Davidsonville, residents came out to watch, and some of the children even joined them down to the stadium,” said René Benjamin, Ward 71 councillor.

At the Davidsonville Stadium, the crowd was entertained with music, as well as thanksgiving speeches by René and the Regional Manager for Sports and Recreation, Vanessa Montanus.

These band members made sure everyone was entertained.

The same group was also involved in the City of Johannesburg’s New Year’s Eve festival that was held in the inner city.
