Bachelor’s and Diploma passes skyrocket at Allen Glen High School

"The school is highly satisfied with the results, which see an improvement on last year’s results," Allen Glen High School's deputy principal Gillian French was quoted saying during the release of the final matric results.

Following the release of the National Senior Certificate results of the Class of 2017 on 5 January, staff of Allen Glen High School was pleased with the school’s overall outcome.

Deputy Principal Gillian French expressed her satisfaction with the results. “The school is highly satisfied, especially with the improvement in the number of Bachelor’s and Diploma passes,” said French, who was one of the teachers who handed out transcripts (results) to the matriculants.

The former matric learners along with their parents visited the school to get the breakdown of their final results. Although the learners came in dribs and drabs, most of them were happy with their marks and ready to pave a new path.

“I am satisfied with my results. I’m going to study Foundation Phase Education at the North-West University in Potchefstroom,” said Cassey Olivier,18, who chatted to her former schoolmate Timira Nadasen, 17, for the last time at the school premises.Caitlin Allaman, 18, proud to accomplish a Bachelor’s pass, favoured furthering her studies at a private institution. “I applied at Vega to study graphic design,” she said.

Caitlin’s friend Biance van der Merwe,18, who also attained a Bachelor’s pass with a distinction in Mathematics Literacy, opted for a gap year to decide about a suitable career path for herself.

Cassey concluded by motivating the class of 2018 to work hard. “They must persist because it pays off. They must never give up and stay focused. They need to understand that every mark counts towards the future.”
