Spend some time in nature this weekend

Join FroK's outdoor fun

Not sure what to do this weekend? Why not visit the Kloofendal Nature Reserve and join in some of the Friends of Kloofendal’s (FroK) nature events.

According to Karin Spottiswoode, FroK’s guided walks are generally easy and most events are suitable for all ages. “Participants meet at the Kloofendal Ecological Centre at the Reserve on Galena Avenue. For daytime walks we suggest participants bring along a hat, sunscreen, refreshments and wear comfortable walking shoes,” she said.

Here is what you can look forward to this weekend:

• 6 January: Everyone can join in to weed out the invasive alien plants in the Reserve from 7am to 10am.

• 7 January: Grant Egen will be hosting a bird-watching event from 7am to 9am, and on the same day Rod Kruger will be leading a gold-mine tour from 2pm to 4pm.

All the events come at a minimal cost and promise to be fun and informative. For more information or to book, contact Karin on 079 693 5608 or visit the website at www.kloofendalfriends.yolasite.com.
