Help find Helderkruin family’s fur-kid

Reward offered for his safe return

“We are frantic; Riff Raff is like our child,” said a distraught Loren du Preez from Helderkruin.

Riff Raff is an 11-year-old, long-legged Jack Russell that went missing from Innesfree Villas in Helderkruin on New Year’s Eve (31 December). “We were visiting friends that evening, and when we returned, our neighbour told us our dog had escaped from the yard.

It happened around midnight, when everyone celebrated the new year by setting off fireworks, causing him to panic,” Loren said.

Riff Raff has been missing since 31 December.

She added that he must have battled to get out of the yard, as he is used to being indoors in an enclosed patio. “The only way he could have managed to get out was to jump over the three feet wall,” she said sadly.

They are offering a R5 000 reward for the safe return of their fur kid, hoping this will motivate the community to help find him. “We are driving up and down the streets, trying to find him. We have visited the SPCA as well as the Community Led Animal Welfare (Claw), but we have not found him. Despite this, I am trying to stay positive and not think the worst,” said Loren sadly.

Riff Raff is mostly white, with small black spots on his back. He has a brown V-shaped patch on his face, and his ears are brown with black tips. “When he stands still for some time, his one hind leg has a slight tremor,” Loren added.
