Crime was prevented during the festive season

Muthan revealed that 60 to 70 arrests were made in the Johannesburg West Cluster and that most of them were not serious.

The daily festive season crime-prevention operations by the Honeydew Police yielded positive results as the station recorded a relatively low crime rate.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan shed light on their success. “Crime was relatively low during the festive season period. We didn’t have any serious matters reported,” he said.

He attributed the success to the new constables who maintained visibility in every corner of the precinct. “The low-recorded crime rate was also boosted by 1 196 police constable graduates who patrolled all the malls in the area,” Muthan added.
