UPDATE: Two members of attacked Florida family hospitalised

"No arrests have been made yet, but the police are investigating a case of attempted murder and house robbery."

Five members of a family, a child, its mother and father, and a pair of in-laws were attacked and robbed in their home in Thistle Street, Florida, on 17 December.

According to Gauteng Police Spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubele, at about 9:15pm the family heard shouting outside their house and the father-in-law went to investigate.

The suspects subsequently forced their their way into the house, shooting the father-in-law in the process.
The mother-in-law then attempted to jump the wall to get the neighbours’ help. It is suspected that s
he broke her leg while trying to jump the wall.

The attackers ripped a television off the wall and made off with it in a blue Toyota Corolla.

Captain Makhubele assured Northsider that the police are investigating the matter.

“No arrests have been made yet, but the police are investigating a case of attempted murder and house robbery.”

The father-in-law is hospitalised and in a stable condition, and the mother-in-law is also in hospital receiving medical attention.
