Local school donates 60 Santa shoe boxes

“In a school where many of their learners are siblings, the number of boxes donated means that many parents donated more than one box – with some donating as many as three,”

PLG Allens View Academy hosted a successful Santa Shoebox campaign which saw 60 boxes filled to the brim with love being delivered to a children’s home.

The initiative was supported by parents and learners and aimed at supporting those less fortunate.

Tammy du Rand from the school told Northsider how they were successful in collecting the boxes. “In a school where many of their learners are siblings, the number of boxes donated means that many parents donated more than one box – with some donating as many as three,”  she explained.

She added, “PLG Schools are committed to numerous charity drives throughout the year and so the values of love, integrity, respect and honesty were showcased at PLG Allens View Academy during the Santa Shoebox campaign.”

The shoeboxes were collected by a Santa Shoebox volunteer, Megan Swarts, who loaded her car with the lovingly decorated boxes. “My car is bursting at the seams with 60 Santa Shoeboxes. Thanks to this awesome school, 60 little hearts will be filled with joy and happiness this Christmas. You rock!” she expressed her gratitude.
