Allen Glen High School appoints acting principal

Before entering the field of education, Kruger worked as a financial accountant for a leading science and technology company.

Former deputy principal of Allen Glen High School, Jane Kruger, has been tasked with the responsibility of leading the school into 2018, as she embarks upon her tenure as acting principal in the wake of the resignation of former headmaster, Dr Johan Wiehahn.

Kruger, who holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and a Higher Diploma in Education from the University of Pretoria, has enjoyed an illustrious career in both corporate finance and education.

Prior to joining Allen Glen in 2008 as Head of Department: Commercial subjects, Kruger had taught at King Edward VII School, and South West Gauteng College and FET College (Westcol) in Randfontein.

Before entering the field of education, Kruger worked as a financial accountant for a leading science and technology company.

In 2010, Kruger rose to the position of deputy principal at Allen Glen High and taught Computer Application Technology.

During this time, she played a pivotal role in the administration of the FET phase, especially with regard to the matric learners. She is fondly regarded by her peers and fellow educators, and greatly respected by the staff and learners alike.

Chairperson of the school governing body, Warren Mackrill, believes that Kruger is the right person to lead Allen Glen High into 2018 when the position is filled on a permanent basis.

Commenting on her appointment, Kruger reaffirmed her commitment to maintaining Allen Glen High’s excellent academic, sporting and cultural achievements. “It is a daunting task to step into the shoes of someone who has cemented a legacy of leadership across two decades.

I have, however, willingly accepted the call to take over from Dr Wiehahn as Acting Principal until the position is advertised next year.”

The school’s former principal, Dr Johan Wiehahn, resigned in October this year to take up the post of principal at the nearby Hoërskool Linden. Dr Wiehahn was seconded to Allen Glen High in 1992 to assist with the initial development of the school. Rising through the ranks, he became a Deputy Principal and finally, Principal – a position he occupied for seventeen years.
