Newly promoted Honeydew police officer, Captain Karen Jacobs, has vowed to continue working closely with the community in a bid address crime, just as she has done for many years as a Warrant Officer.
“My goal is to work closely with the community of Honeydew and other stakeholders within the Honeydew precinct to address crime and make Honeydew a safe place for everyone,” said Jacobs, who became active as Captain from 1 November.
This well-respected and much-loved officer has served in many departments since joining Honeydew Police Station in 1994.
“I have performed duties as a client service member, detective service, social crime prevention, visible policing and sector policing,” she explained.
When asked how she felt about the promotion, Jacobs said, “I feel very privileged, thankful and positive regarding my current post, which brings with it more responsibilities, and I’m ready to make a difference.”
Following the announcement of her new rank, Jacobs has received tons of love and messages of support from her colleagues and community members.
“Captain Jacobs is truly an exemplary police representative. She is approachable, trustworthy and incredibly dedicated to her work. We are very privileged to have her as our Honeydew Sector 3 Police manager and at the Honeydew Station as a whole. Well done, and congratulations on your promotion, Captain Jacobs, it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person,” said Carolyn Lanzillotti, the chairperson of the Honeydew Sector 3 CPF.

Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Station, Captain Balan Muthan, told Northsider that management and colleagues at the station are all pleased with Jacob’s new rank. “We would like to congratulate Jacobs on her new rank as Captain. We are very pleased that yet another member has received a promotion,” said Muthan.
As the promotion was a true reflection of many years of hard work, Jacobs advised other police officers who would like to walk in her shoes to keep believing in their dreams and not give up.
