Lucky escape for motorists involved in accident

No injuries were reported

Two vehicles were involved in a collision on Ontdekkers Road in Delarey on Saturday night (28 October).

According to a Facebook post from JHB Responders, one of their response vehicles came across the incident while on duty.

“An Uber driver, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and was driving on the wrong side of Ontdekkers Road, collided with a Range Rove coming from the front,” the post read.

Witnesses on the scene, said they saw the Volkswagen Polo’s lights coming from the wrong side of the road, and when the driver of the Range Rover tried to swerve out of its way to avoid the accident, it was too late, and they collided.

ER24 paramedics were also on scene, and although nobody was injured, they assessed all involved as a precaution.

The Uber driver was arrested for driving under the influence, and taken to the local police station for a blood test. The JHB Responders team assisted with clearing the accident debris.

They thanked everyone who assisted at the scene, including the police’s K9-unit, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police officers, ER24 as well as Help24.
