Victims tied up with shoelaces during house robbery

Initial investigations indicated that the suspects gained entry into the complex by lifting an electric fence.

The Honeydew Police are investigating a case of house robbery at a complex on 15th Avenue in Northwold, where the occupants were held at gunpoint in the early hours of today, 25 October.

According to Captain Balan Muthan, the spokesperson for the station, the incident occurred at about 1am.

“The complainant (74) and his wife were sleeping when they woke up and found four to five male intruders inside the house,” Muthan explained.

He added that the intruders switched on the lights, and two of them, wielding firearms, threatened the couple and tied them up with shoelaces.

“They then covered the victims with a duvet and took a television, cellphones, e-meter, jewellery and R250 in cash,” Muthan further explained.

Initial investigations indicated that the suspects gained entry into the complex by lifting an electric fence. However, it is still unclear how they got into the house. The case remains under investigation
