Three arrested for business robbery

Man pretended to want to buy cellphone charger.

Three suspects were arrested this past Friday (22 October) for a business robbery they committed on Goldman Street in Florida.

While the owner of the shop was busy counting cash in his shop at approximately 7.15pm a man, pretending to be a customer, came in and asked how much a cellphone charger was. He suddenly grabbed the cash from the owner without saying anything and ran towards an Audi A4 parked nearby. The owner gave chase and when he tried to open the door of the suspect’s car it drove off and he fell.

Apcan Security noticed the commotion and chased the suspects’ car. The Florida Police joined in the chase, as well as the victim. The suspects were arrested at the corner of Goldman Street and 8th Avenue. The stolen money was recovered.

The suspects aged between 32 and 34 were detained at Florida Police Station for business robbery and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon.
