Disconnection of illegal cables leads to protest in Zandspruit
Removal of illegal connections believed to be the cause
Beyers Naudé Drive and Peter Road have been blocked off following a protest in the Zandspruit informal settlement earlier today (25 October).
It is believed that the residents are up in arms because illegal electricity connections in the area are being disconnected.

The residents have barricaded the road using refuse, stones and burning tyres.
Order is being maintained by officers from the Johannesburg Metro Police Department, who are currently observing the situation and redirecting traffic.
