The suspects involved in the assault of tow-truck driver Johnny Vance have allegedly handed themselves over to the police this morning (24 October).

Vance was allegedly assaulted by other tow truckers on 19 October. He sustained spinal injuries, a broken jaw, a skull fracture and four of his ribs were broken. Yesterday the police went to A1 Assist/ Help24 to arrest the suspects who all allegedly work for the company, but none of them were there. The police then set an ultimatum that if they have not reported to Langlaagte Police Station by 8am today, warrants for their arrests will be issued. The list of alleged culprits reads like the who’s who of the Roodepoort towing industry, including at least one of the big guns.

The Record has repeatedly attempted to get comment from the towing companies, but to no avail.

It is not clear whether the charges against the suspects will be assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), or attempted murder.
