Photos: Illegal street racing leads to vehicle-pedestrian accident

Pedestrian seriously injured.

Yesterday (17 October) at about 4.20pm a pedestrian was seriously injured when a vehicle first collided with another vehicle before hitting him.

It is alleged that the driver of the VW Golf, who is in his late teens or early 20s, was racing when it turned in front of another vehicle at the corner of Ontdekkers Road and Sonop Street. After the two vehicles collided, the Golf ran over a traffic island where it hit the pedestrian. The pedestrian broke his leg and pelvis.

The accident will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
