Residents of Roodepoort, Witpoortjie, Roodekrans and Florida were surprised recently when they received crime-prevention tips from police members during a crime-prevention campaign.
The campaign was a joint operation between the Social Crime Prevention units as well as the communications departments at the Roodepoort and Florida Police Stations.

“We identified certain areas where we went from door to door, handing out pamphlets and brochures with safety tips on house robberies, business robberies as well as hijackings,” said Florida Police spokesperson Captain Lydia Dikolomela.
The members visited service stations as they are prone to business robberies, private residences as the occupants often fall prey to house robbers, as well as certain areas identified as hijacking hot spots.
Residents were also urged to report any crime, suspicious persons or activities on the following numbers:
