Maragon Ruimsig’s class of 2017 shines

Maragon celebrates their achievements

The hard work and dedication of the Grade 12 learners at Maragon Private Schools was celebrated at the Valediction Ceremony on 11 October.

In a last farewell to the matric class of 2017, Principal Riaan Vorster, reminded the students to always consider how much they are giving rather than how much they receive and to never forget the values instilled in them at school. He also reminded them of how far they have come and the endless opportunities they are bound to come across as they move on to the next chapter in their stories.

Moms, dads, friends and teachers cheered the students on as they went up to collect the awards they have worked so hard to achieve. Some garnered awards for sports while others in academics and even those who have been a part of the school’s legacy for 15 years were acknowledged. Head Boy, Michael Phillips received numerous awards, including the Dux Scholar and his full academic colours. Caleigh Robson and Jessica de Wit received their half colours for their achievements in horse riding.

Among the learners who were awarded for their momentous achievements were Sara Reji, for achieving the highest mark in Life Orientation, Diandra Henriques for Mathematical Literacy, Nquobile Mkhize for Drama (practical), Jarryd Clark-Buchner for Life Science and Business Studies and Nikki Christodoulou for Tourism.

“When you have awards for just academics or sports you only catch a glimpse of how phenomenal the students are, but when you see them all together you really get the full picture,” Vorster said at the end of the ceremony.
