Companies bring relief to storm victims

Storm victims receive donations from the caring community.

Various organisations and security companies have made it their responsibility to make sure that locals who were affected by the recent massive storm are taken care off.

A number of food and clothing drives have been carried out in the area and appeals were made to bring relief to those left with close to nothing.

The storm, which was accompanied by a tornado on 9 October, left many properties and vehicles damaged. Informal settlements in the area were the most affected. The storm even resulted in the death of a person who was found buried underneath pre-cast concrete pillars in Ruimsig after attempting to dodge the bad weather.

Caxton Newspapers and the Honeydew Community Policing Forum have started an initiative to collect donations that will be distributed to the affected areas.

BCI Security, who was hands-on during the storm, also supported the cause by asking their clients to donate items to their offices.

Rudi Holtzhausen from the company thanked their clients for their support. He said the donations were dropped off in Randpark Ridge to a number of tornado victims.
