National Grouch Day

Embrace your inner grouch on #NationalGrouchDay

15 October is National Grouch Day, a special day created for all grouches to celebrate their way of life.

If you look up the word ‘grouch’ in the dictionary you will find the following descriptions:

– a person who complains frequently or constantly;

– a habitually irritable or complaining person.

Knowing someone who is a grouch, it does appear that they are only happy (although they will never admit it) when someone else is unhappy and grouchy. When others share in their world, that is the time they will feel the most comfortable.

Although it could not be confirmed, it seems that the creator of National Grouch Day was the Sesame Street Magazine in honour of Oscar the Grouch – the famous Sesame Street Grump.

Today is the perfect opportunity to send a ‘grouch’ e-card to someone you know who fits the description of a grouch You can also ask a friend – whether grouch or not – to come over for a visit, pop some popcorn and enjoy a relaxing afternoon watching the well-known movie, Grumpy Old Men.

National Grouch Day also gives you the perfect excuse to be a little bit grouchy – even if you are not normally a grouch. If you are a grouch, this day is especially for you – but please accept our heartfelt wishes that your future days will be much brighter!
