Cansa Relay registrations still open for all

The Cancer Association of South Africa is hosting its Cansa Relay for Life in the West Rand district as an initiative in their fight against the disease.

Cansa’s purpose is to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa, while enabling an active role in research, educating the public and providing support to all people affected by cancer. The Relay is a widely popular event that helps celebrate those who have survived cancer, remembers those who have lost their battle to cancer, and encourages awareness and the fight against cancer. The event will be held on 13 and 14 October at Hoërskool Bastion.

The theme of this year’s relay is the ‘Power of Purple Carnival’. The competition will consist of an opening ceremony for all participants, followed by a lap for survivors and caregivers to celebrate their victory over cancer. Teams of 10 to 15 people are then welcome to walk the first lap together as the event begins. The event will consist of a 12-hour walk and is guaranteed to be a fun-filled overnight team experience to raise funds for care and support services.

Entertainment and food stalls will be available, and prizes are up for grabs.

Gates open at 4pm and the programme begins at 6pm. All interested participants are encouraged to register, while cancer survivors and caregivers have free admission.

For more information, survivors and caregivers can contact Elize on 074 101 4850. Teams can contact Ester on 061 700 5000. Alternatively, visit the website at www.relayforlife.org.za
