Roodepoort testing examiner arrested for fraud
Suspect appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court
A 57-year-old male vehicle examiner has appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud and corruption.
Officers from the Gauteng Department of Community Safety arrested the vehicle examiner at the Roodepoort private testing station after they discovered he had issued a fraudulent roadworthy certificate for an Isuzu bakkie.
After a thorough investigation, it was found that the vehicle, which was declared roadworthy at the Roodepoort testing station, was impounded in the Free State during September.

“I commend officers from the Gauteng Traffic Police for their sterling work in rooting out criminal elements within Driver and Learner Testing Centres.
These are meant to be centres of excellence, where we ensure that roadworthy vehicles are tested before they are cleared to be on our roads.
I have been advocating a message of road safety and we will not hesitate to deal decisively with any element that stands in the way to achieving this goal.” said Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, the Gauteng Member of the Electoral Committee for Community Safety.
