Man dies while escaping heavy storm in Ruimsig

Body found near Hole in One Avenue and the Ruimsig squatter camp

A lifeless body of man has been discovered in a veld in Ruimsig following a heavy hailstorm early this afternoon, 9 October.

The body was discovered by a BCI Security personnel, Johan Pretorius, who was making rounds in the area.

He told Northsider that he saw the gruesome body of the man near Hole in One Avenue near the Ruimsig squatter camp.

He speculated that the man must’ve been running away from the storm and got injured and killed by a concrete palisade fencing which he was found burried underneath.

Pretorius said when he got to the scene and contacted the police and ambulance services. He added that a brother to the deceased was able to identify the body before being taken away by a mortuary vehicle.
