Update: Water restored to most areas

Only one area still affected

“According to technicians, water should be fully restored to affected areas by 12 noon today (5 October)”, said Eleanor Mavimbela, the spokesperson for Johannesburg Water.

She added that when she spoke to the team, they confirmed that the work was completed on 4 October. “They said that they had started on the restoration of water to the affected areas throughout yesterday, and some areas already had water by this morning,” she said.

The only area where there still is a problem is Weltevreden Park. “During the maintenance work, technicians found that one of the connections was faulty and they had to repair it. They have already isolated this problem and are busy with repairs. Unfortunately, they could not give me an estimated time when they will be finished, but residents will be kept updated via our social media accounts,” said Mavimbela.

She concluded by saying, “If there are residents (not including Weltevreden Park) who still have no water after 12 noon today, they should log a call by visiting our website on www.johannesburgwater.co.za. They can also visit our Twitter page (@JHBWater) or Facebook page (JohannesburgWater) to alert us of the issue and we will send out a team to investigate.”
