Supporters, friends and family of murdered baby Deon Rothman received more disappointing news this morning.
Although the trial will continue today, most likely until 3.30pm, Marthinus Pelser’s lawyer indicated that he will “not be able to finish today”. It is not clear why.
Trial Day 4: #PelserTrial: “If he could do that to a baby, [imagine] what would he do to us?”
Meanwhile, the court roll is so full that the parties involved had trouble agreeing on a date. Magistrate Delize Smith proposed any date from 11 to 14 December, but these dates have not been confirmed since she has to consult with the assessors on whether they will be available on the dates in question.
Trial Day 3: #PelserTrial: Grandmother takes to the stand
It is expected that Pelser and the investigating officer will testify today.
