#PelserTrial: Mother continues giving testimony

Just after 10am, the mother of murdered baby Deon Rothman, Bianca, took to the stand, clad in a peach dress.

After State Prosecutor, Paseka Temeki, recapped the evidence that Bianca, the mother of the deceased baby Deon, had given during the accused’s previous appearance, he started questioning her about the yellow notebook. Bianca told the court that she only noticed the book a few days after the murder when she returned to the house for the first time. She said she found it odd as the book had not been there before.

She saw a cloth between the pages and when she opened it at the marker, she saw the following four notes:

“Bianca ek is regtig sorry oor alles, soos rerig. Moenie in die cot kyk nie. Bel die polisie”

“Ek’s jammer weet dat ek jou altyd lief sal hê”

“Eks by veld langs die complex. Stuur iemand”

and

“Eks in die bad. Rerig sorry. Eks lief vir jou”

Temeki also asked Bianca if she had any contact with Marthinus Pelser since his arrest, to which she replied “No”.

The court then adjourned so that Pelser’s lawyer could study his copy of the notebook.
