His lawyer focused on the following:
- Bianca Rothman’s depression
- That it wasn’t she who wanted a divorce but him, due to her alleged mood swings
- That her medication sometimes made her forget what she had done
- That she dropped the baby during the afternoon before returning to work
At one point, the lawyer flatly told Rothman that Pelser would testify that she had murdered the baby.
