Local charity needs your help

“We would like to request community members to please help us to make a difference in young people’s lives,” said Pinky Mosome.

Pinky is a social worker at NaCham Wellness Consultancy, a Non-Profit Organisation offering psycho-therapeutic interventions, especially to young people affected by traumatic events in their lives.

“We provide counselling and support to our clients and their immediate families in order to assist them to cope with and resolve problems that can interfere with their lives. We have extended our services to include offenders and victims, and their children,” Pinky said.

The programmes they offer include marriage workshops, mental health/ prosperity of soul, entrepreneurship, academic placement, skills development and spiritual care. They also offer counselling and therapy.

From 4 to 6 October they will be hosting an outreach camp for all children who have experienced trauma in any form at the Manie Mulder Adventure Centre in Roodekrans. “There will be males and females attending this camp consisting of 70 young people and 20 adults. The ages of the attendees will be between 14 and 25. The aim of this camp is to offer extensive counselling and rehabilitation services to the children, in an environment that is away from their normal circumstances,” she said.

On 7 October, there will be a camp feedback session for the children’s parents and/ or guardians. This session will take place at the Jehovah Reigns Worship Centre in Honeydew from 1 pm.

“We are pleading with the community to please help with donations for the camp, anything will be welcome. We need food for the attendees, help with transport and so much more,” Pinky said.
