Feeding scheme for four-legged friends

Charity Begins with Me opens their feeding scheme to man's best friend.

Charity Begins with Me wishes to expand its feeding scheme to the four-legged friends of Roodepoort informal settlements.

The charity has been feeding over 800 children from Roodepoort informal settlements every Sunday for weeks. They launched this new initiative, to feed the children’s dogs when the children receive their lunch, on 10 September. “It was a huge success. The dogs loved the food and the children were so happy,” said founder of Charity Begins with Me, Stephan Ferreira.

However, they will not be able to care for man’s best friend without the community’s support. Donations of dry and wet dog food are needed as they are mixed in with the home-cooked meals made for the dogs.

Stephan explained they decided on healthy home-cooked meals as they believe nutrition is important, and they will be trying different recipes every week.

“There are approximately 20 dogs at the moment but in a community where the need is so great we expect the number to increase every week,” Stephan added.

If anyone wants to donate, they can SMS or WhatsApp Stephan on 072 5933 866. The charity has drop-off points in Weltevreden Park and Randpark Ridge.
