The Honeydew Police have expressed concern about the increase in theft out of motor vehicles at shopping centres in the precinct.
Although various crime awareness campaigns have been conducted by the Honeydew Community Policing Forum in partnership with various security companies, the spokesperson for the station, Captain Balan Muthan, told Northsider that theft out of motor vehicle incidents persist. ““The number of these incidents is increasing at all shopping centres,” he said.
This station polices a score of shopping centres in the Honeydew area.
Muthan, while urging motorists who frequent shopping centres to refrain from leaving their valuables in the public eye, revealed that this past week the station was investigating 34 such incidents.
“Owners of vehicles should make sure that there are no valuables in their vehicles,” Muthan concluded.
