Avoid hot spots, police urge motorists

Motorists urged to use alternative routes.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, has urged motorists to be extra cautious when approaching intersections believed to be crime hot spots.

The warning follows the arrest of a suspect who attempted a smash-and-grab on a vehicle on 15 September on the corner of Nic Diederichs and Hendrik Potgieter Roads.

The suspect was apprehended by BCI Security personnel who have adopted the intersection in a bid to combat crime in the area.

Muthan further urged motorists keep their doors and windows locked at all times. He also said motorists must try using alternative routes and avoid ‘high risk’ intersections.

“They [motorists] must make sure that their windows are closed and doors locked. They must always be observant at these intersections and also try and avoid intersections where such incidents happen,” Muthan said.
