Pageant princess’ heart of gold

Mariéla Romanelli makes her school proud at the Toddler and Tween of the World pageant.

The King’s School West Rand Grade 1 learner, Mariéla Romanelli shone at the Toddler and Tween of the World pageant.

Mariéla placed third in the Platinum Prime category, won the Empress of Fire category, placed second in the Treasure Award category and won the Social Buzzer category for supporting the brand on social media.

She received these awards over a two-day judging period at the beginning of September, where she competed with 31 other finalists in the seven to eight age category. The judging included a face-to-face interview, ramp walks and the submission of various portfolios. Each contestant had a voting line during the past seven months, so friends, family and supporters could vote for their favourite toddler or tween. Mariéla secured enough votes to place in the top five with the most number of votes each month.

Mariéla explained her motto in life is, “do your best and God will do the rest”. Therefore it is no wonder Mariéla consistently worked hard throughout the pageant and was involved in several fundraisers for Feed a Child, Just in Time baby sanctuary, Baby Moses sanctuary and others throughout the year.

She received great support from friends and family who helped her with donations to fill Christmas boxes for children in need. She also collected blankets for the Roodepoort SPCA and helped her grandmother make scarves and blankets for Moria Old Age Home.

Her family said they are very grateful for each and everyone’s support. Mariéla is a blessing from above and does everything in life with so much passion.
