Metrobus services accommodate everyone

Metrobus offers a specialised service to disabled persons.

 

Persons with disabilities can now benefit from specialised services offered by Metrobus.This service is on designated routes with six buses which are equipped with a hydraulic chair lift.

This is a subsidised service and the passengers pay a monthly fee. A special prepaid tag system is also available for people with disabilities.

A yellow prepaid tag can be purchased, which is valid for a period of six months. Special stickers are displayed at the front of the bus to notify commuters. The buses have ramps that align with the pavement to make wheelchair access easy.

They also have dedicated wheelchair spaces complete with seatbelts that lock the wheelchairs to the floor.There are also nine double-decker buses which have ramps that align to the pavement to make wheelchair access easy. These buses have been integrated into the normal daily scheduled service.

Applicants for this service can apply by forwarding an email/ fax to Charmaine Fourie on cfourie@mbus.co.za, calling 011 832 3135/ 6/ 7 or faxing to 011 832 3138.

Subject to space and route availability, applicants will be informed whether they can be accommodated.
