Welview Residents Association held its annual general meeting on Candlewood Street on 26 August, and invited the whole community to attend.
Welview chairperson, Tana Cope, addressed local residents and confirmed that the number of members in the RA had grown to 260 as of last month. Tana reminded residents that the Welview security camera project was still continuing although they had encountered difficulties with the service provider. However, the security cameras in the area are recording.
She reminded the community of the Welview Whatsapp groups and to adhere to the rules set out for the separate groups as some are used for emergency purposes only.
An appeal was made for residents to assume positions on the Welview committee, namely the positions of secretary and council reporting representative. The election will be held at next month’s meeting.
Various other speakers from the Honeydew CPF, Londoloza Protection Group and Ward 126 councillor, David Brand, addressed the crowd about other current issues in the area, such as crime and water pressure problems.
Residents could socialise and enjoy a street-braai after the meeting, while children were kept occupied with sand art.
