The staff of the Discover Montessori Pre-School have decided to launch a sanitary pad drive to donate to girls in need.
This initiative will be run in conjunction with Pledge A Pad, a non-profit organisation founded by Aileen Hlongoane. This organisation’s aim is to collect as many sanitary products as possible to donate to young girls and women and help restore their dignity.
The drive will take place from 1 August to 31 October and products can be dropped off at the pre-school situated in Discovery. “We want the drive to run until the end of October, to ensure that we collect as many sanitary products as possible to donate to these young girls,” said Dineo Phadimenyane, a representative of the school, and one of the organisers of the imitative.
All the products that are collected will be donated to the Child Welfare of South Africa in Roodepoort and a Girls’ Town home based in Kagiso.
